Herman Kassinger got his start in the construction business as the result of a hurricane.

In 1953, Hurricane Hazel left a path of destruction in Oshawa which prompted Mr. Kassinger to go into the home renovation business. Starting out as a subcontractor, he fixed chimneys, roofs and other damaged areas of these homes.

In 1954, he built his first house and today, more than 1200 homes later, Kassinger Construction is known as a leader in the home building industry both in Canada and the United States.

It didn't take long for Herman Kassinger to develop and build his first residential community, Grandview Gardens in Oshawa.

The next project was Beau Valley, a name synonymous with quality homebuilding in Oshawa. Since then projects have included Park Valley, Sun Valley, Rose Garden, Highland Gardens in Courtice and many other spectacular custom residences in the area. Kassinger Construction also was instrumental in building several low-rise apartment buildings throughout the north end of Oshawa.

The idea of Rossland Park, an unparalled community of rental accommodation was conceived in 1965 with completion of the main buildings in 1975. It continues to this day to be the most desirable rental address in Oshawa.
